When you win a lottery jackpot you might be very tempted to share your good news with everyone you meet, but that probably isn’t a good idea. Although your closest friends might be happy for you, a lot more people will be jealous, and quite a few might start approaching you for cash handouts.

Some winners have been overly generous with their money and ended up with nothing left for themselves, at which point their new ‘friends’ have quickly disappeared. Your first lottery lesson is therefore to avoid bragging openly about your win so that you aren’t put in a potentially uncomfortable position in the first place.
